Commencement Ceremony at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben PDF Print

A record number of graduates attended the commencement ceremony at the Archduke Johann Auditorium on December 17th, 2010. At the Montanuniversitaet, 88 master's candidates, 21 doctoral degree candidates as well as two graduates of the MBA programme "Generic Management" were recognized and received their diplomas.

As the enrolment period closed for the academic year 2010/201, it becomes evident that the Montanuniversitaet Leoben has achieved an all-time high in student numbers. The university is particularly happy with the development of females studying at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben - the percentage of female students has further risen, and now accounts for 23.1 percent which is precisely 1.1 percentage points above the results from last year.

Search Engine for 55 million data sets PDF Print

With the introduction of a new search engine, the library of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben sets new standards for electronic searches for academic papers and publications. In total, the system, which is being used in the German-speaking world for the first time, accesses half a billion documents.

Dr. Achim Bechtel from the Chair of Petroleum Geology at the Universitaet Leoben has received the "Dal Swaine Award". The organisation "The Society for Organic Petrology" awarded the prize, which was presented for the first time this year, for the best publication in 2009 in the fields of "inorganic or organic chemistry or the mineralogy of coals or oil bedrocks".

Jürgen Antrekowitsch from the Chair of Nonferrous Metallurgy, and is supported by enterprises such as Voestalpine, RHI, Befesa and AurubisIndustrial.
