Höchstnoten sowohl ihre Ausbildung als auch ihre künftigen Karrierechancen betreffend hat die Montanuniversität Leoben einmal mehr von ihren Studierenden erhalten. In der Umfrage „trendence Graduate Barometer 2011“ drückten die angehenden Diplomingenieure ihre Zufriedenheit mit der alma mater Leobiensis in Zustimmungsraten bis zu 98,6 Prozent aus und blickten deutlich optimistischer in die Zukunft als ihre Kollegen anderer Universitäten.

The Montanuniversitaet Leoben had reason to celebrate on Monday, September 19th: In the presence of Dr. Hannes Androsch, Chair of the University Council, Wolfhard Wegscheider, Rector of the Montauniversitaet, Landtagsabgeordnete Ing. Eva Maria Lipp, Dr. Matthias Konrad, the Mayor of Leoben, and a number of representatives from industry, a unique injection-moulding compounder, worth 1 million euro, was officially launched at the Department of Polymer Engineering and Science. |

International Interest in Research Results of Leoben Materials Scientist |

The scientific work of the Leoben materials scientist Dr. Daniel Kiener met with great interest on an international scale. Following a publication in the scientific journal "Nature Materials" in early summer, new research results by the assistant professor have now been presented in the renowned journal "Nano Letters". Dr. Kiener and his colleague Dr. Andrew M. Minor from the University of California in Berkeley, CA, USA were able to contribute to solving a much disputed issue in his field of research.

A festive ceremony was recently given by the Montanuniversitaet Leoben to thank its alumni and benevolent supporter: Due to a generous donation by Dr. Pavle Matijevic, the study environment for students in the University Library has been improved significantly. As a tribute, the renovated reading room in the main library was named "Matijevic Reading Room". A modern and convenient book scanner as well the library search engine "BUGL" complement the enhanced services on offer

Um eine Gummispritzgießmaschine MAPLAN MTF 750/160 Edition ist der Maschinenpark des Lehrstuhls für Spritzgießen von Kunststoffen vergrößert worden. Die kostenlose Leihgabe der Firma MAPLAN Maschinen und technische Anlagen Planungs- und Fertigungs-Gesellschaft m. b. H., des größten österreichischen Herstellers für Elastomerspritzgussmaschinen, wurde am Montag (5. September 2011) feierlich in Betrieb genommen.

Am Freitag, den 26. August 2011, besuchte Bundeskanzler Werner Faymann im Zuge einer Obersteirmarktour die Montanuniversität Leoben. Empfangen wurde der höchste Repräsentant der österreichischen Bundesregierung unter anderem vom Vizebürgermeister der Stadt Leoben, Max Jäger, und Rektor Wolfhard Wegscheider.

New Studies Show: Engineering Graduates Have the Best Salaries |

Graduates of technical universities continue to receive the highest starting salaries in Austria in 2011,as presented in the recently released study “Update: Comparison of starting salaries of graduates 2011” by the “Forum Personal” of the Austrian Austrian Centre for Productivity and Profitability (Österreichischen Produktivitäts- und Wirtschaftlichkeits-Zentrums ,ÖPWZ). Neither graduates with business degrees nor graduates from universities of applied sciences with an engineering or technical focus get paid as much when they enter the job market.

"Green" Research Projects Distinguished at International Conferences |

Once again, the excellent and high-quality research output of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben in the field of sustainability has been affirmed and distinguished at two international conferences. At the "World Renewable Energy Congress" (WREC) in Sweden and the "European Metallurgical Conference 2011" (EMC) in Düsseldorf, presentations by the scientific staff of the Montanuniversitaet received awards.

Commencement Ceremony under the Banner of Sustainability and Education |

At the Montanuniversitaet, 13 doctoral degree candidates were recognized and received their doctoral degrees during the commencement ceremony in the Archduke Johann Building on July 1st, 2011. The graduation ceremony was complemented with the presentation of various awards and scholarships.
