Connecting to university network from off-campus

University account holders (students, staff/faculty) are able to establish a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection using a client software. Many resources, e.g. special library services, are only available while connected to the university network. The VPN requires an active internet connection and uses encryption and security mechanisms.

VPN access will be granted automatically for students, after completing immatriculation.

For staff/faculty accounts created after 25.02.2009, VPN access is automatically activated. You have to request VPN access if your account is older, by sending a service request via the "Call Center Database [CCDB]" or via the online form on the web site. An active MUonline account is required!

Please, be aware of the network security policies for remote access connections, before using VPN access (see below). Your account will be suspended as a result of any violation of these policies;  see also: Terms of Use.

Following downloads are only available for students and staff/faculty with an active account.
Username faculty/staff: employee-number (Please note: the password is not obligatory your MUonline or email account password).
Username students: matriculation number (MUonline password).
