Industry is one of the largest consumers of primary energy (in Europe for example about 30%). Especially in industry the power generation as well as supply, transport, distribution and utilisation of electrical, mechanical and thermal energy in an ecological and economical way are crucial. Since the global energy consumption is increasing dramatically it is important to provide students a basis concerning identifying and utilisation of savings potentials in order to be able to contribute to solutions for the arising problems.
The master programme Industrial Energy Technology is an interdisciplinary course which is focused on those fields which are necessary for solving energy relevant tasks, like innovative energy technologies, fuel technology, thermal process technology, electro technology, sustainability, ecological and economical evaluation, energy management, energy market and energy legislation.
The master programme consists in addition to the compulsory subjects of the fields energy supply, energy utilisation, energy process engineering and energy management also of a project work, a master thesis and an internship in industry.
Field of activities
The master programme Industrial Energy Technology was released in order to meet the high global need of energy engineers.
The field of activities of the energy engineers will be:
- Energy supply in industry, with special focus on sustainability
- Utilisation of alternative and renewable energy sources
- Energy conversion and industrial energy utilisation with high efficiencies
- Development of innovative energy technologies
- Ecological and economical evaluation of energy efficiency
- Energy management
- Energy orientated, sustainable design
Summing up, the master programme Industrial Energy Technology imparts the theoretical-scientific competence as well as application oriented accomplishments in the field of energy engineering with special focus on sustainability.
