SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
Server: studmail.unileoben.ac.at Port: 25
SMTP is a protocol for sending e-mail messages between servers. When you configure your e-mail client (MS Outlook, Eudora, Pegasus Mail, ...) you have to specify this server!
! Attention: Use this server only on-campus (including university modems). You will need to use your current ISP´s (AON, Telekabel...) outgoing e-mail server, when you are off-campus.
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol - Secure authentication)

WEBMAIL
Webmail offers the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol for secure data transmitting. It is designed for access from anywhere by just using a web browser (Internet Explorer, Netsacpe Navigator, Opera, ...). You will need to activate cookies and javascript in your web browser! Webmail uses the IMAP protocol.

Email Gateway
Since December 2007 all inbound email messages are routed by an email gateway. The main benefits are SPAM filtering and virus scanning.
If a message is rejected you will get an email from 'content-filter' containing information about sender email address, detected virus and disinfection.
