Product Development (University Course)

Course aim and target audience

The development of customer-oriented and innovative products is increasingly becoming the decisive opportunity for companies. The prerequisite are effective and efficient product development processes as well as a high level of qualification.
This university course addresses qualified expert personnel and senior management in the product development field who have the desire to continue their professional education at an advanced level.

Course contents and focus

This course includes topics from technology, market and enterprise relevant for product development processes.
The field of technology ranges from product development, including the creative und innovative methods, up to the industrial design. This also includes the selection of materials and manufacturing procedures, product design, product quality assurance and technology monitoring. Legal aspects such as standards for product development or trademark rights are also addressed during this course of studies.
The topics surrounding market and enterprise also comprise organization including production and project management, cost- and business evaluations, marketing & sales and market monitoring.

Skills and expertise

The graduates are qualified to plan, manage and control cross-linked product development processes.

Entry requirements

Participants must have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or a Diploma degree at a university or university of applied sciences in Austria or abroad; or must be able to demonstrate that they have an equivalent qualification in the area of product development (this may include evidence of university matriculation plus at least five years’ relevant professional experience).
