MBA Generic Management (University Course)

Course aim and target audience

This MBA programme is a unique form of management training at the interface between business and technology. Its concept is based on the amalgamation of individual management systems into a holistic, overarching management system (generic management). Participants will be given specialist, practical knowledge in the areas of business administration and management.
This course is aimed at people aspiring to senior management positions with a high degree of responsibility and/or those who wish to extend their education to date with a well-founded management science qualification.

Course contents and focus

The focus of the content of the programme is on the areas of business administration; management and leadership; quality management; sustainability and energy management as well as risk and safety management. As part of the studies, these all converge into a holistic management system - generic management.
Great value is attached to equipping students with the knowledge and abilities required to be able to answer and solve the all-important questions connected to decision-making and managing change in organisations; and likewise, to convince with their ability to lead and to communicate.
A Master’s thesis is required to complete the course and achieve the qualification.

Skills and expertise

The course will give methodologies as well as the professional and social skills needed for senior management positions. Additionally, within the context of professional skills, analytical, strategic and systematic thinking will be supported and developed. In developing methodologies and social skills, particular emphasis will be placed on the use of efficient management instruments, problem-solving techniques, chairperson skills, working with and in teams, and communication and presentation skills.

Entry requirements

Participants must have a qualification in a technical, scientific, mining, social science, economic, medical or legal field of study; or must have demonstrably completed a bachelor’s degree of equal status abroad. At least two years’ professional experience is also required.

Degree and title

Academic degree: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The degree includes the internationally-recognised Certificates in Quality and Environmental Management.
Optional: in collaboration with the AUVA (Austrian Social Insurance for Occupational Risks), training leading to a qualification as a “Safety Specialist”.
