TU Austria is Number 1 in University Ranking Print
In an online survey, commissioned by the weekly magazine "Format", more than a hundred personnel managers from Austrian enterprises and professional personnel consultants have named the three universities of the TU Austria (Technical University of Vienna, University of Leoben and the Technical University of Graz) the best universities in Austria. 56% of the interviewees awarded the distinction "outstanding" to the University of Leoben and the Technical University of Vienna, followed by the University of Technology of Graz with 51%.

General Assessment

The personnel managers primarily assessed the different degree programmes available at all Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences in terms of the graduates’ job prospects upon entering the labor market. Furthermore, they were also asked to give an overall assessment for each university. By far, the University of Leoben and the Technical Universities of Vienna and Graz received the highest ratings.

Engineering ahead of all other study programs

From all categories questioned, the engineering programs at Austria’s technical universities benefit from an excellent reputation and are held in high esteem with the personnel experts, according to "Format", and consequently also received the best assessment with regard to career opportunities. Nine study programs of the University of Technology of Vienna and the University of Leoben as well as eight programs of the University of Technology of Graz were ranked among the 27 best educational programs in Austria.
This year, the top degree programmes are "Biomedical Engineering" and "Electrical Engineering" at the University of Technology of Graz, closely followed by the programs "Polymer Engineering and Science" and "Materials Science" at the University of Leoben, and "Mechanical Engineering" in Vienna.

TU-Austria president and rector of the University of Leoben Wolfhard Wegscheider is very much pleased with the evaluation by the personnel consultants: „By uniting the three technological universities, we have taken an important step in the right direction, and our claim ‘United through Excellence’ has been demonstrated impressively“, Wegscheider said in reference to the ranking.
