The future Rector of the Montanuniversitaet started his career at the research department of the Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, in 1999 he became University Professor for Mechanical Engineering at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben.

Future holds important tasks
"The Montanuniversitaet can look back on very successful years", Eichlseder explains. "Above all, great progress has been achieved concerning the infrastructure of the Montanuniversitaet." In the coming years, it will be of utmost importance to continue with this development by expanding technical infrastructure as well as human potential. Besides the basic research, the latter should also reflect in further co-operations with the industry, Eichlseder said.

International direction
"Another important focus will be the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation in science in order to be well prepared for complex tasks in the future", the future Rector said. "The excellent reputation of the Montanuniversitaet not only needs to be defended, but also strengthened and developed further with the support of international projects."

Educational politics
"The increased acquisition of third-party funds, however, shall not free the state of its obligations concerning the funding of education", Eichlseder noted in regard to the latest political debates. "The prosperity of our nation depends to a great extend on the educational level of the population, hence the government is required to invest in its youth’s education. Society has obligations to future generations", Eichlseder added.

Continuity of past success
The chairperson of the University Council of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben, Dr. Hannes Androsch, is convinced that the election of Eichlseder guarantees the continuity of the successful work of the past 8 years. "A good work climate and continuity are guaranteed for the future", Androsch said.
