Dr. Bernd Oberwinkler from the Chair of Mechanical Engineering at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben has been recognized with an environmental award by Lufthansa Cargo. The “Cargo Climate Award” is awarded to junior researchers and scientists, customers and employees who contribute innovative and creative ideas for a climate friendly development in airfreight. The award ceremony was held for the second time in Frankfurt in early March. Oberwinkler was honoured in the category „Outstanding Projects of Junior Scientists – Aviation”. For his dissertation in the field of durable and damage-tolerant design of forged titanium components, he received a monetary prize of 5,000 Euros.
