For the ninth time, the impressive "show truck" of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben will hit the road once again in order to inform prospective students about the unique study programmes in Leoben. Last year, the tour focused on schools in the eastern provinces of Austria, whereas this year’s tour stops at schools in Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg and Carinthia, South Tyrol and Bavaria, as well as in Hungary and Slovenia for the first time. The continuously rising number of students demonstrates the great success this publicity campaign has had over the past years. Since the beginning of the winter semester 2010/2011, the Montanuniversitaet welcomed a record number of students. For the first time in the university’s history, more than 3000 students call Leoben and its continuously growing campus their home. For a total of five weeks, the classic American style show truck with its academic counseling team will visit schools and partner enterprises in order to provide information on the available study programmes in Leoben. Support of the industry In spite of the still challenging situation of the economy, the industry is eager to be a part of this unique marketing tool of an Austrian university. The list of sponsors impressively shows the excellent relation between university and industry. Thanks are also due to the city of Leoben which has been a major supporter of the campaign since its beginning. Expansion For the first time, the Montanuniversitaet Leoben will visit neighboring countries such as Hungary (Budapest and Sopron) and Slovenia (Maribor) in order to recruit future engineers. Furthermore, important school towns in South Tyrol and selected destinations in southern Bavaria will be part of the tour. Within Austria, the western provinces will be the focus of the tour, including an excursion to a partner enterprise. The Plansee-Corporation, one of the world’s leading producers of powder metallurgy products and components, will welcome several high schools near Reutte in early April.
