| MBA Programme Ranked Nr. 2 among Austrian Postgraduate Courses |

According to a recent survey by the "Industriemagazin" (Volume 5/2011) on the image of Austrian providers of "Executive MBAs", the Montanuniversitaet Leoben is ranked Nr. 2 with its MBA programme „Generic Management“, and has thus excelled last year’s ranking. The survey focused on image values, and specifically targeted the image of the “Teaching Quality of the Institution“ on a scale from 1 to 5 (5 points = excellent, 1 point = very bad). This year, 427 people from industry took part in the study, in 2010, there were 385 participants. The Vienna University of Economics and Business was rated best with an image value of 4.09, followed by the Montanuniversitaet (image value 3.95) and the Danube University Krems. With its management programme, linking economy and technology, the Montanuniversitaet has a unique position in the field of continuing education in Austria. In a first statement, Programme Director Prof. Hubert Biedermann said: „I am very glad that our programme ‘Generic Management’ is so well-received by the industry, is uniquely positioned, and supports companies and employees alike in their professional development. We will continue to develop and adapt the programme according to the current demands and trends“, Biederman said. The criteria to take part in the survey have become more stringent; this year, only institutions were taken into account whose postgraduate MBA programmes provide management methods and management instruments without branch specialisation. Moreover, vocational experience was another exclusion criterion; study programmes requiring less than three years of leadership experience were not included. The MBA programme „Generic Management“ has been offered by the Chair of Economic- and Business Management for 11 years now, and is headed by Prof. Hubert Biedermann .To date, more than 100 participants have finished the programme successfully, and find themselves in top positions in the industry due to the management programme.
