In an online survey, commissioned by the weekly magazine "Format", more than 120 personnel managers from Austrian enterprises have named the Montanuniversitaet Leoben the best university in Austria. The distinction "outstanding" was given to the University of Leoben by 58.8% of the interviewees, followed by the University of Technology of Graz with 36.4% and the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) with 36.4%. General Assessment The personnel managers primarily assessed the different degree programmes available at Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences in terms of the graduates’ job prospects upon entering the labor market. Furthermore, they were also asked to give an overall assessment for the individual universities. By far, the Montanuniversitaet received the highest ratings, followed by Graz University of Technology and WU. Engineering From all categories questioned, the engineering programmes at Austria’s technical universities are held in high esteem with the personnel experts, according to "Format", and consequently also received the best assessment with regard to career opportunities. This year, the top degree programmes are “Mechanical Engineering” at the Vienna University of Technology , followed by “Metallurgy”, “Industrial Environmental Protection”, and “Industrial Logistics” at the Montanuniversitaet. In total, five study programmes from Leoben are ranked among the Top 10. Critiera According to personnel managers, the most important critiera for the quality of university education is the quality of the professors, followed by the internationality of the study programmes and research output.
