Montanuniversitaet – Airpower Partner 2011 Print
As cooperation and training partner of the engineering departments at the maintenance hangar [Fliegerwerft 2] of the Austrian Airforce in Zeltweg and Graz, the Montanuniversitaet Leoben will be represented with an information booth at the Airpower 2011 for the first time.

The Fliegerwerft 2 is responsible for the maintenance of the Eurofighter, Saab 105, and the training aircraft PC7, and is renowned for its excellent technicians. Particularly in aviation, continuous training and development of the staff, also in the field of metallurgy, is vital for air safety.

In order to be continuously up to date with the latest technology, the experts and staff of the specialist department "Technik PC7" are trained by university professors Helmut Antrekowitch and Helmut Clemens along with Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Angerer, providing information on the latest research findings at the Institute of Non-ferrous Metallurgy and the Department Physical Metallurgy and Materials Testing at the Montanuniversitaet.

The apprentices for aviation engineering at the Fliegerwerft 2 also benefit from the cooperation. In the course of various training seminars, they received additional information for their final apprenticeship examinations, and showed off their expertise at the Champer of Commere in Lower Austria. Three apprentices passed their exams with distinction, two passed with merit. Aircraft maintenance in Zeltweg now boasts additional qualified personnel, a fact that can also be contributed to theexcellent instructors of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben.

The cooperation with Fliegerwerft 2 is based on a long-time partnership with the Infantry Battalion 18 in St. Michael.
