As of the winter semester 2015/2016, graduates of the "International Master of Science in Advanced Mineral Resources Development" will also have the chance to receive a Chinese version of their degree, an internationally unique opportunity.

During the two-year master’s degree held entirely in English, students spend the first two semesters in Leoben, then go on to study in Freiberg, and eventually complete their degree at another foreign University. The University of Dnipropetrowsk (Ukraine) has been a partner of the programme since 2012.

The Chinese delegation’s visit to Leoben also served as an opportunity to finalise details concerning the programme. Vice-Rector Peter Moser of Montanuniversität, Rector of CUMTB, Prof. Dr. Renshu Yang, two Deans and the Director of International Relations participated in the talks. The delegation received insights into different departments and had the opportunity to meet Chinese students and researchers at Montanuniversität. Student and staff exchange programmes and research cooperations are planned for the near future.

The alliance of Montanuniversität with CUMTB was agreed on by the Austrian Federal Minister of Science, Research and Economy, Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner, in China this October. Rector of Montanuniversität Wilfried Eichlseder signed the contract with CUMTB regarding the cooperation in the Ministers presence.
