Montanuniversität enters partnership with LUKOIL

LUKOIL Engineering and Montanuniversität Leoben have entered into a cooperation agreement and will launch a number of projects together. The aim is to closely cooperate in science and research in the field of oil production and to ensure a more intensive exchange of information. The parties signed the agreement on 16th of May.

LUKOIL Engineering is the research centre of the Russian company LUKOIL. It is committed to enabling an extensive transfer of know-how in the area of petroleum engineering by cooperating with selected higher education institutions and to developing new technologies together. Thus, highly qualified experts will be trained for the energy sector and student exchange programmes will be established in the near future.

"Montanuniversität Leoben is renowned for excellent research and teaching. With this partnership, we intend to expand our investments in research and development.  For LUKOIL, sustainable technical progress is of the greatest importance. We are looking forward to cooperating with Montanuniversität," Vadim L. Voevodkin, director general of LUKOIL Engineering explains while signing the agreement in Leoben.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wilfried Eichlseder, rector of Montanuniversität Leoben, also comments the partnership with LUKOIL Engineering: "The partnership with LUKOIL has enabled Montanuniversität to further expand its network of international research cooperations. Not only will we work together on advancing in research and development, but we will also involve our students in these innovative projects."

Involvement of LUKOIL in Austria

In the past few years, LUKOIL has expanded its involvement in Austria step by step. It was only in April 2016 when the new headquarters of LUKOIL Lubricants Europe was opened in Lobau near Vienna. The huge investments worth millions of euros provide important economic impulses for the industrial development of Austria.
