Signs-of wear

Wear tool for analysing weak points

Based on damage patterns, the wear tool offers a simple way of determining the origin and monitoring options for signs of wear.

Plant availability is an important economic criterion in production processes. In addition to a low failure rate, system monitoring ensures safe and reliable operation. Both stress monitoring and damage monitoring provide valuable information for minimising plant downtimes. The condition diagnosis approach aims to prevent premature failures on the one hand and to assess wear reserves on the other. Wear and tear on components is caused by wear, corrosion, fatigue, ageing or unauthorised loads.

The basis for the evaluation of systems are the signs of wear on the individual components. The most important influences on the tribological process are load, movement and temperature. The system structure and the media involved are also decisive for the development of wear.

The LSM ‘Clogging’ tool offers the possibility of analysing the two primary wear patterns with regard to their causes of wear, the clogging mechanisms involved and possible diagnostic procedures. Among other things, the system structure and the type of stress on the components to be analysed are taken into account.
