In his remarks, Ambassador Mohamed Nasr emphasized that the MoU reflects the strength of Egyptian-Austrian relations and the shared commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
The agreement was signed by Mohamed El Shinawi, President of Galala University, and Peter Moser, Rector of the Technical University of Leoben. The ceremony was also attended by Prof. Khaled Abu Shanab, Head of the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Office in Vienna and Thomas Prohaska, Vice-Rector for Teaching and International Affairs at TU Leoben as well as other high-ranking representatives from both universities.
During the signing ceremony, both Rector Peter Moser and President Mohamed El Shinawi both expressed their shared commitment to translating the agreement into tangible initiatives through exchange programs, joint research projects and collaborative activities in the fields of engineering, technology, geology, and energy—thereby creating long-term added value for both institutions.
During their visit, the guests from Galala University gained fascinating insights into cutting-edge research and innovative technologies of TU Leoben through guided tours of the university’s laboratories and the Hydrogen and Carbon Research Center.
By signing the Memorandum of Understanding, Technical University of Leoben is strengthening its international partner network and laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration with a dynamic university in Egypt. The agreement opens up new opportunities for academic exchange and the development of joint research and educational projects with international impact.
