Using In Situ Anomalous Small-Angle X-ray Scattering to Analyze Ion-Specific Structural Changes in Supercapacitors

In a new paper published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, we introduced in situ anomalous small-angle X-ray scattering (ASAXS) as a unique method to extract both real-time structural and ion-specific chemical information from one single experiment.

In the paper "Towards Real-Time Ion-Specific Structural Sensitivity in Nanoporous Carbon Electrodes Using In Situ Anomalous Small-Angle X-ray Scattering" published in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces we presented a proof-of-concept experiment using In Situ Anomalous Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (ASAXS) to track structural changes of individual ion types in an operating supercapacitor. The experiment was performed at ID02 at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble.
