Exciting topics will keep us company throughout the summer.

This time, we have a diverse range of topics and courses on offer: OER, AI, and accessibility testing. The Teaching Brunch will also be taking place again.
In addition, you’ll find materials from the recent GAAD (Global Accessibility Awareness Day) as well as explanations of AI agents. The AI course for instructors will be held in a blended-learning format. As usual, you’ll find information about events and professional development opportunities at the end of the newsletter.

OER Workshop July 2026

2.7., 16.7. and 23.9.2026

The workshop on OER (Open Educational Resources) is being held jointly by the LLC and the CTL. Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational materials that are made freely available under appropriate licences and are therefore available for use, adaptation and distribution. OER can form part of degree programmes and offer the opportunity to use learning materials flexibly in a variety of educational contexts.

In our OER course, you will not only learn about the benefits of OER, but also how to find, remix, and create OER yourself. We will also analyze OER using quality criteria. Of course, by the end of the course, you will know which licenses to use for which purposes and how you can become an OER practitioner yourself. This course will prepare you for your certification! The course consists of a kick-off meeting, a MOOC for self-study, two in-person sessions, and a transfer phase.

Accessible digital exams and the GAAD

A course from Bielefeld University and other materials

As Inclusion Month in May has just come to an end and GAAD (Global Accessibility Awareness Day) has also recently taken place, we would like to recommend this Moodle course from Bielefeld University on the topic of “Accessible digital exams”. Here you will find everything you need to know about accessible e-exams and how to implement them.

The three centres of excellence at NRW universities take part in GAAD every year and offer excellent resources, which you are welcome to view here: Click here for the NRW universities’ GAAD materials

What are AI-Agents?

As a bonus, we’d like to share this IBM page on AI agents with you today. If you’re interested in AI, you’ll inevitably come across AI agents at some point. Here’s a great explanation of what AI agents actually are: https://www.ibm.com/think/topics/ai-agents
