Adolf-Martens-Award 2014 awarded to Daniel Kiener

Within a festive event held by the Adolf-Martens-Fonds e.V. on 25 September 2015, the President of the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), Prof. Dr. Ulrich Panne, awarded the renowned Adolf-Martens-Award in the category ‘Materials science, research and testing’ to Assoz.-Prof. Dr. Daniel Kiener from the Department Materials Physics at Montanuniversität Leoben.

The award values the contributions by Dr. Kiener regarding the understanding of plasticity in nanoscale objects using transmission electron microscopy. In particular, the development of novel quantitative in-situ techniques that allow direct observation of the elemental deformation processes is highlighted.
