EURECA-PRO welcomes 8th partner – Hasselt University

EURECA-PRO is proud to present our new partner: Hasselt University, Belgium.

The EURECA-PRO alliance, which is coordinated by Montanuniversität Leoben since 2020, consists of the 2 German partners TU Bergakademie Freiberg and Hochschule Mittweida; the Romanian University Petrosani, University of León in Spain, Silesian University of Technology in Poland and Technical University of Crete.

Considering the alliance extension, it was important for EURECA-PRO that the additional partner can bring added value into the consortium, which already spans a wide field in the area of Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Hasselt University is an innovative university, which has a pronounced international orientation.

It is home to more than 6,500 students and 1,500 academic, administrative, and technical staff members. Hasselt University stands for excellence in education, top research in spearhead fields, and active commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship.

On November 23rd, 2021, our Board of Rectors approved Hasselt University as a full partner of EURECA-PRO. On 26th April, the official signing of our collaboration with Hasselt University took place at their campus in Hasselt, Belgium.

The Rector of Hasselt University, Bernard Vanheusden, stated: "The objective of EURECA-PRO fits perfectly with the policy themes Hasselt University is working on: Sustainability, Inclusiveness, Lifelong Learning, and Internationalisation. Moreover, sustainability is also the common theme in our education and research, with many projects focussing on circular economy, energy transition, and sustainable materials. As Hasselt University, we immediately felt at home in this alliance and are very pleased that we can now be part of it.”
