Montanuniversität Leoben receives Erasmus Charter

Montanuniversität Leoben has been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the new programme period (2021-2027).

The ECHE is the legal basis for European universities to participate in Erasmus; this includes applying for funding for all mobility types and project tracks under the programme. The ECHE also defines the quality framework for co-operation activities and is valid for seven years.

Applying for and receiving the Charter also entails a commitment to the principles of the Erasmus University Charter. This means that the MUL undertakes to guarantee the principles enshrined in the programme, such as non-discrimination, transparency, inclusion, equal access for all, recognition of ECTS credits, no charging of fees in the course of mobility and the quality of mobility activities and projects. In addition, particular attention should be paid to the four priorities of the new Erasmus programme: Digitalisation, Green Erasmus, Inclusion and Social Engagement.

MUL has already successfully participated in the Erasmus programme in the past through the ECHE. For the new Erasmus+ programme period 2021-27, all universities across Europe had to apply to be awarded the charter again. The Montanuniversität International Relations Office (MIRO) prepared and submitted this application in spring 2020. The results were then published by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in Brussels at the end of December 2020. The Montanuniversität was also successful with a maximum number of points achieved and thus shows great commitment to participating in this unique and successful international university programme that has been in existence for over 30 years.
