The Austrian Scientific Society for Production Engineering (ÖWGP) has awarded Dr. mont. Abdullah Jabr from the Chair of Structural and Functional Ceramics the 2nd place in the 2025 ÖWGP Doctoral Award for his outstanding dissertation.
In his thesis, “Understanding the Effect of Processing Conditions on the Properties of Cold Sintered Ceramics,” Dr. Jabr investigated the further development of the cold sintering process, a novel and energy-efficient manufacturing technique for ceramic materials. This process is based on the principle of reducing the traditionally high sintering temperatures of over 1000 °C to below 350 °C, thereby significantly decreasing energy consumption and emissions during production. His research provided fundamental insights into improving the structural integrity of cold sintered materials and demonstrated the industrial scalability of the process.
The award was announced on October 28, 2025, during the ÖWGP Doctoral Colloquium at Montanuniversität Leoben.
