The memorandum brings together two strong partners: Technical University Leoben with its fields of expertise “Sustainable Processes”, “Smart Materials” and “Advanced Resources”, stands for excellent science, outstanding education and absolute excellence in research and teaching. The Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the global mining industry through innovation. CEMI facilitates collaboration among industry stakeholders, researchers and government to drive technological advancements and improve sustainability in mining operations.
“This partnership with CEMI represents an exciting opportunity to establish collaboration with one of the world’s most innovative mining hubs represented by Canada. By working together, we can enhance technology transfer, strengthen industry collaboration and drive impactful change that aligns with global sustainability priorities and the energy transition,” says Michael Tost, Professor of Sustainable Mining Technology and Head of the Chair of Mining Engineering and mineral Economics at TU Leoben.

Technical University Leoben and CEMI aim to support joint activities in key mining markets and engage with stakeholders from industry, academia and policy to ensure progress for the sector.
